Artist's Comments

This guy lives in the lake across from my home. He is an American Alligator, approximately 10-11 feet in length, and approximately 250-300 pounds.

Great close up of a gator in the wild. That's a heck of a big and scary neighbor!

He's actually lived in that lake for the last 4 months. He is able to travel to other lakes and the marsh area behind our development via large culverts under the roads. He mainly stays in the middle of the lake so noboby really bothers him. This is why I live in Florida, I think these creatures are quite interesting.

My mom has gators in her backyard pond as well, most of them are pretty small 3-5 feet. It's cool to see wildlife up close and personal like that. :+fav:

They are fascinating. I've always like the rounded nose of the alligator better than the pointed nose of the croc. I'm in North Carolina. The odd gator will turn up from time in one of the lakes.

About the biggest excitement we had around my house critter-wise was a large black snake in our utility building last summer. It was going in there to feast on all the crickets. I haven't seen any crickets this year either so I'm just waiting for the snake to make his presence known. Or he just ate them all last year before they could lay eggs.
